The beginning
Ryne's puppyhood
Ryne's puppyhood
Hintu - the BloodPack leader - charged at Ryne's mother (Cricket) with all the force of a falling boulder.
Cricket was barreled to the ground with her blood splattering the cave walls. Hintu wrapped his jaws around her neck and bit down until the white wolf stopped struggling.
Hintu's lips curled into an evil smile at the very scent of death.
Once Crickets' life was taken, Hintu then bolted after Ryne's father (Thunder). The gray wolf ran, trying to escape. And he would of, if Hintu hadn't leapt onto his back and pinned him to the ground.
Hintu grabbed the Thunder by his ears and tugged. Thunder yelped, as Hintu then wrapped his jaws around his neck.
Thunder gasped for breath as he felt his body grow lighter and lighter, almost like he was falling through the sky like a feather.
"Ryne," Was all he had time to say.
Hintu trotted back to his pack who had the small gray she-wolf (Ryne) circled.
"Next time, tell your parents not to steal BloodPack's prey." He laughed, sizing up the small pup.
Hintu froze, he had caught sight of the wolf pups' eyes.
"Oh my god!" He exclaimed and leapt backward, stumbling over his own paws, "This she-wolf has the mark of the devil on her!"
The rest of the pack studied the she-wolf, and sure enough they all started acting the same way.
"Her eyes! Her eyes!" Exclaimed another, "Her eyes are different colors! The sure sign of the devil!"
"Her future will not be bright, she will live her life eating from the devil's hands!" Yelped another.
"Shouldn't we kill her then?" A skinny brown wolf circled around the pup.
"Idiot!" His friend shouted and wrestled him to the ground, "If we touch her we'll like get poisined or something. It's the devil ding-song!"
"Oh right." Said hte wolf who was pinned to hte ground.
"Enough." Hintu spat, "Red is right though, if we kill her a curse will be bestowed upon us." Hintu walked forward -as a human - and kicked the gray wolf pup into the cave wall. Ryne yepled in pain as she hit the cold hard, wall, then slid onto the floor.
"Now we flee now! For the devil could be here!" He howled - back in his true form - and he and his pack fled leaving Ryne alone in hte cave to cry over her parents dead bodies.
"Mom!" She exclaimed and nosed her way under the white wolfs' paw. "Mom?" She dug her face into Cricket's mane, the white wolf fur muffled her cries.
After visiting her mother, Ryne ran out of the cave and stopped at her father's body.
"Dad?" She cried, only seeing the same expression of death on the gray wolf's face.
"Why?" Ryne looked up at the bright, full moon, "Why did they die? Why didn't they kill me?" She sat down by Thunder's belly and kept staring up at the moon as a cold wind ruffled her fur.
Paradise..Ryne you must search...for Paradise.. A voice in the wind howled.
"Par-a-dise?" Ryne thingyed her head, pronouncing the word. Ryne didn't know it, but her journey was just beginning.
Ryne, you must leave this land. Leave and never return. There is no hope or misery, just a future ahead. Look to the future, and it will lead you...To Paradise..You must be unafraid, to break away...
Ryne rose to her paws, "Now? Why do I have to leave, I want to stay with my parents."
The wind blew slowly, against Ryne's thick fur, You must go, there is a future ahead for you. A beautiful one. But you cannot unlock it if you are here.
Ryne lowered her head and began walking, as the cold winter snow blew in her face and stung her eyes. The 8 month pup didn't know it, but this was the beginning of a very big journey that would impact her future much more then she thought.
